Terry G. Allen, 20, of 719 S. 22nd, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday (March 23, 1979) in Blessing Hospital from gunshot wounds he suffered early Friday in a scuffle outside a rural La Grange, Mo., home.
Mr. Allen was born Jan. 24, 1959, in Quincy, a son of Glenn G. and Vera St. Clair Allen. he was a member of Madison Park Christian Church.

Surviving are his parents of Quincy; two sisters, Miss Amy Allen of Canton, Mo., and Miss Ann Allen of Quincy; four brothers, Gregory of San Gabriel, Calif., and Steve, Joe and Jon, all of Quincy; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ida Allen of Quincy; and his maternal grandfather, Edwin St. Clair of Taylor, Mo.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother and a grandfather.

Richard "J R" Altgilbers Jr

Richard John “R.J.” Altgilbers Jr., age 55, of 1010 Chestnut, Quincy, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at 11:17 pm in Blessing Hospital.

R. J. was born January 15, 1960 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Richard John and Elizabeth JoAnn Altgilbers. He had married Linda Reichert on May 19, 1979 .

He was a 1978 graduate of Quincy High School. He worked at Central Pattern until they closed. He then worked for Marlboro Wire until his retirement due to ill health. He loved to visit garage sales, the Dollar Tree and the casino.

Survivors include 4 children, Chad (Ashley) Reichert of Marion, Arkansas, Jason Altgilbers, Heather (Richie) Bias and Amanda Altgilbers, all of Quincy; 5 grandchildren, Rashayla Bias, Kayleigh Altgilbers, Ratayia Bias, Kay Lynn Tipton, and Khloe Bassett, all of Quincy; his mother, Elizabeth JoAnn Algilbers of Quincy; 2 brothers, Rocky (Tracy) Altgilbers and Rodney (Sheila) Altgilbers all of Quincy, and several nieces and nephews.

R. J. was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Kevin Altgilbers, and several aunts and uncles.

Services: 1:30 pm Monday, March 2, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Mikkelson officiating.

She is survived by her mother Dorothy "Jean" Ehrhart Arp; her husband Philip Harrison; her daughters, Kelsey Markley (Scotty) of Quincy and Kristin Harrison of Quincy; her sisters, Sherry Anders (Mike) of Nashville, TN, Linda McNeil (Tom) of Quincy, Kathie Anastas (Kevin) of Bumpass, VA and Patty McGlothlin of Quincy; her mother-in-law Barb Harrison of Revere, MO; her siblings-in-law, Steve Harrison (Jackie) of Naples, FL, Sharon Harrison of Villa Ridge, MO, Debbie Harrison of Revere, MO and Cindy Harrison of Ozark, MO; and her pet Harley. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Christine Michelle Smith (Athey)

Christina Michelle Smith, 55 of Kinderhook, IL passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at her residence. Christina was born on February 29, 1960 in Pittsfield, a daughter of the late Sherman and Margaret Manton Athey. She married David Smith on October 16, 1981 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death in 1991.

Christina graduated from Quincy High School in 1978. She earned an Associate's degree from John Wood Community College and was working as a secretary at Farm Services. Christina just completed 20 years with the company, six years at the Pittsfield office and 14 years at the Kinderhook office.

Her favorite band was Fleetwood Mac and she had attended a concert in St. Louis with her daughter, Michelle, the night before her passing. She enjoyed antiquing, gardening, interior design, the TV show Law & Order SVU and vanilla Lattes. She had a great fashion sense and always looked her best. Christina was a four time cancer survivor.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Smith of Pittsfield; two sisters, Barb (Eddie) Reinhardt of Pittsfield and Nancy (Rick) Schwieter of Fredonia, NY; a nephew, Tom (Stephanie) Reinhardt of Pittsfield; a niece, Dawn Howard of Canandaigua, NY; a nephew, Eric (Stephanie) Schwieter of Chattanooga, TN and an aunt, Lucille Herron of Springfield, IL in addition to many great nieces and nephews. Christina was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Alice Ayers, 43, #712 Country Club Heights, Apt 101, Quincy, died Thursday, February 6, 2003 in her home.
She was born August 17, 1959, the daughter of David Sanford and Margaret Ann Ayers.
Survivors include a son, Andrew Louis Ayers, Quincy; 2 brothers, Todd A Ayers, Heilbronn, Germany and Mark K Ayers, Alexandria, VA; 3 sisters, Tracy A Ayers, Fayetteville, NC, Deborah Denise Ayers, Charlotte, NC and Anjanette Ayers, Houston, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, February 11, 2003 in the Catherdral of Worship by Bishop E. L. Warren. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy IL. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Andrew's College Fund or The American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Williams Funeral Home of Hannibal MO in Association with Hansen-Spear Funeral Home of Quincy.

Randy L. Babcock, 38, of 2421 Maine, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday (April 21, 1998) in his home.

Born April 10, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa, Mr. Babcock was a son of Paul Henry and Elizabeth Buffington Babcock.

Mr. Babcock was a 1978 graduate of Quincy High School. He was employed by J.M. Huber corp. for two years and then moved to Chicago where he was employed as an assistant manager for a furniture company.

Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth, of Quincy; a sister, Mrs. Kelle Ann Mock and her husband, Jospeh, of Quincy; a nephew, Kamden Mock of Quincy; and a niece, Brianna J. Mock, of Quincy.

Mr. Babcock was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 12, 1978.

Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Randy Babcock Memorial FUnds.

Theodore "Ted" I Barnes

Theodore L "Teddy" Barnes, age 54, of 1628 Spruce St., Quincy, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. in Blessing Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on November 21, 1961 in Quincy, a son of Raymond E. & Marilyn T. (Roling) Barnes. 

Ted was a machinist at Midwest Patterns f0f"36 years and considered his co-workers as family. Ted was a graduate of Quincy High School. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. John. 

Ted loved life and adored his children and grandchildren. Family trips to Myrtle Beach and to the Great Smokey Mountains were treasured and he always looked forward to them. The holidays meant something special to him, and Thanksgiving was his most favorite. 

He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy's Football fan, and Fantasy Football enthusiast.Ted was a well-known softball player, and played on many teams throughout the years.Ted shared his love for sports by coaching youth baseball, basketball, football and girls' softball teams as part of the CYO, the Quincy Park District and YMCA leagues. He really liked riding his bicycle, he also participated in bowling leagues, enjoyed going fishing and playing golf. 

He is survived by his significant other of several years, Linda Burns of Quincy; his dad, Raymond Barnes of Quincy; his children, Brooke L Barnes & Taylor N. Turner, and Isaac Dallas Barnes all of Quincy; his five grandchildren, and his siblings, Cindy East of Quincy, Mary Lynn Trenter of Durham, MO, Tim {Connie) Barnes and Tom (Joan) Barnes all of Quincy. Many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his mother. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Pastor Martin Eden. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Catholic Youth Organization. Duker & Huagh FH

Duane Alan Bastean

Duane Alan Bastean, 42, of 2430 Larch Road, died at 8 p.m. Friday (Jan. 3, 2003).

Born Aug. 22, 1960, in Quincy, he was a son of Albert A. and Patricia Veile Bastean.

Mr. Bastean worked for Central Stone Co. for 14 years. He had enjoyed working as a guide at Mark Twain Cave in Hannibal, Mo., andh e worked for Mack Truck until he fell ill.

Mr. Bastean was an Eagle Scout with Troop 22. He had been a Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Francis Catholic Church. He was an avid fan of many sports, and enjoyed bowling and shooting pool. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Albert and Patricia, survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Russell (Donna) Siebers of Quincy and Mrs. Masood (Denise) Sayeed of Castle Rock, Colo.; three brothers, Dale Bastean and his wife, Scottie, of Olive Branch, Miss., David Bastean and his wife, Renae, of Payson, Ytah, and Daniel Bastean of quincy; a god-daughter, Alecandra Herny and several nieces and nephews, Erin and Ethan Sibers of Quincy, Lyesha, Jameel, Shazia and Sohail Sayeed of Castle Rock, Joshua and Christopher Bastean of Olive Branch, Andrea and Justin Close, and Jessica Bastean of Payson.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Clara Veile and joseph and Helen Bastean.

Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or St. Francis Catholic Church.
